[2021] Pedro - photos by Pere Ibañez
Pedro is Barcelona artist Pere Ibañez's sixth photo series and most personal body of work to date. A project born after the sudden passing of Ibañez's father and a pivot from the dark themed pieces of past collections. The new series comprises a mixture of techniques in order to incorporate old restored family photos onto new compositions. The result is an eclectic dreamlike collection of personal moments that explore and elevate universal elements such as the passage of time, family values, and love. A process that served as a learning experience for coping with grief and ultimately paying tribute to the life of Pedro Ibañez.

[2017] Syzygy - photos by Pere Ibañez
Syzygy is Barcelona’s artist Pere Ibañez fifth photo series and most emotional work to date. Collaborating with Chinese NGO CandleX.cn on a Bipolar Disorder Awareness Campaign and drawing on his own personal battle with depression, the artist uses the analogy of planetary juxtaposition to illustrate the two extremes of the mood spectrum. It explores human nature at its most vulnerable and channels the voices of many suffering the tearing effects of depression and mania.

[2015] I.See.Dark - photos by Pere Ibañez
I.See.Dark is an artistic exploration of mortality, fate, and strength in overcoming the unknown. Employing linguistic and visual cues from European witchcraft and folklore, Ibañez creates a slow-burning narrative of fear and resistance in the face of challenge and despair. In a departure from earlier collections, I.See.Dark is shot entirely in vintage black and white outside the studio. The collection is deeply personal, with much of the series staged in the countryside where Ibañez grew up and face his own hardships. Drawing on these incidents, Ibañez depicts how individuals experience and eventually learn to see beyond the harrowing events they endure.

"EneME" is a collection of photographs by the spanish artist Pere Ibañez. Halfway between Spain and China, the artist stages quotidian situations with a unique movie-like narrative, closer to the cinema rather than photography itself. This book is a surreal and dark tale of self-destruction and emotional disturbance, the man versus the monster within. The photographs are arranged by topics: Inner demons, materialism, loneliness, beauty, faith, addictions and love. A collection of photos with a beginning and a bitter end, after all, there's nothing scarier than finding yourself.
